Sending in your precious Inclusions

Please read the information below carefully, to ensure your treasured memories of your loved ones are sent securely and safely. If you have any questions about the sending process, please get in touch. Postal details and other information can be found at the bottom of this page.

  • Cremation Ashes

Sending in cremation ashes is simple and safe to do. Here's some easy instructions to follow when ordering a memorial piece.

1-2 teaspoons of ashes should be placed inside a sealable bag or a sample pot. I recommend then placing this inside another sealable bag incase some of the ashes come loose while in transit. Please do not send anymore than 50g of cremation ashes, the size of bag/sample post must be able to fit inside a large letter parcel box (if it does not fit inside a large letter envelope, upon sending your finished item back to you, I will place your loved ones ashes inside a small sealable bag inside your parcel next to your finished piece and dispose of your original packaging).

This doubled bag can then be placed inside a regular envelope/postal bag or parcel box (padded envelopes are great) and posting using a class of your choice (I do recommend with all precious inclusions that you send them signed for/tracked).

Please note, you are responsible for paying the correct postage fee to send the inclusion to myself. Please check weight and size limits to ensure the correct stamp is being used.

Please ensure you make a note of your full name and order number and place this inside the envelope too. This helps me identify your loved ones ashes when they arrive.

If you’d like me to notify you when your loved ones ashes arrive, please let me know by leaving a contact number inside the envelope.

Please note, although asking for 1-2 teaspoons of ashes, I don't use this much and all unused ashes will be sent back with your finished piece of jewellery, inside the same bags you posted them in providing they fit inside a large letter postal box. You can send a smaller amount of ashes if you wish. Having more than I need helps to have the right 'kind' of ashes that are used for memorial pieces.

All cremation ashes, as with all inclusions, are treated with the most respect and care while handling and creating your piece of jewellery. If you’d like, you can write some information about your loved one in the notes section when you place your order, some customers find that this helps and gives a little bit of comfort to know that when I make the jewellery, I know more about your special loved one. (There is no obligation to do this, I will always treat everyone’s ashes in the same way)

  • Breastmilk

5-10ml of milk will make up to three pieces of jewellery. This can be freshly expressed or frozen milk (the length of time it has been frozen for does not affect the quality, I’ve used milk that’s been stored for 6 years and it preserved beautifully). I can work with smaller amounts of milk if you’re not able to express 5ml. Please do not send more than 1oz of milk. For the Breastmilk Rose and the keepsake bear, 20ml of milk is needed, if you’re purchasing jewellery alongside the rose or bear, please send enough milk for your order.

I recommend using two milk storage pouches and double bagging the milk to prevent any leaks during transit. If you’re opting for frozen milk, you can send this frozen, and it does not have to be defrosted or prepared in anyway before sending. Please do NOT use sandwich bags of any kind, these are not leakproof. Your milk should be sealed inside one milk storage bag, and then placed inside an empty milk storage bag and properly sealed. Please note, any storage pots you use to send the milk, will not be returned, and will be properly disposed of.

The double bagged pouch can then be sent in a regular envelope with any class of postage (if you do not require tracking), a second class stamp is adequate as the length of time the milk is in transit for does not affect the quality. This milk is not for consumption and doesn’t go ‘off’. For precious milk (for example the last remaining milk you have), I recommend sending the milk tracked/signed for, to give you some extra piece of mind. Please note, you are responsible for paying the correct postage fee to send the inclusion to myself. Please check weight and size limits to ensure the correct stamp is being used.

I do keep any extra preserved milk (max 15ml) sent for 12 months. This is incase of any issues with your piece, or for future orders. If you’d rather me not save the extra preserved milk, please make a note of this next to your name and order number in the note, and I’ll discard of the remaining. The 15ml preserved milk will be enough for 3 pieces.

Please make sure you include a note with your full name and order number, this is to ensure I can identify it when it arrives. Pop the note inside the envelope and NOT inside the second storage pouch, milk has leaked previously and damaged notes which left the milk unidentifiable. Unidentifiable milk may be disposed of if there has been no attempt to claim/identify it.

Please do not write on the milk bags directly, as the ink from the pen can change the colour of the milk.

If you’d like me to notify you when your inclusion arrives, please make me aware of this, and leave your contact number inside the envelope.

Please be mindful if using tape to seal your envelope. Parcels that arrive fully taped, have to be cut to open them, the scissors can accidentally pierce the milk bags and cause the milk to leak and become unusable.

  • Hair

The recommended amount of hair to send can be seen in the photo above.

I can, and have, worked with smaller amounts of hair. Such as 1-2 strands. You are welcome to send a smaller amount of hair if you don’t feel comfortable sending the amount of hair you have, or if you don’t have a lot of hair to begin with. I will always send back all unused hair with your finished piece.

Please ensure the hair is dry, and free of knots.

I recommend placing your loved ones lock of hair inside a small sealable bag, and placing this inside another sealable bag to prevent it from being damaged of spoilt during transit.

The size of bag/sample post must be able to fit inside a large letter parcel box (if it does not fit inside a large letter envelope, upon sending your finished item back to you, I will place your loved ones hair inside a small sealable bag inside your parcel next to your finished piece and dispose of your original packaging).

Please ensure you make a note of your full name and order number and place this inside the envelope too (not inside the bag with hair). This helps me identify your loved one’s hair when it arrives.

If you’d like me to notify you when your loved one’s hair arrives, please let me know by leaving a contact number inside the envelope.

All unused hair is always sent back with your finished piece.

All hair, as with all inclusions, is treated with the most respect and care while handling and creating your piece of jewellery. If you’d like, you can write some information about your loved one in the notes section when you place your order, some customers find that this helps and gives a little bit of comfort to know that when I make the jewellery, I know more about your special loved one. (There is no obligation to do this, I will always treat everyone’s hair in the same way)

  • Umbilical Cord

Sending your child’s umbilical cord is a simple and easy process. Before you choose an umbilical cord piece, please check to ensure the umbilical cord is fully dried.

It’s completely up to you if you’d like to send the whole cord, or if you’re comfortable with cutting the umbilical cord, I recommend sending approximately 0.5cm - 1cm of cord.

Please place your cord inside a sealable bag, and place this bag inside another, to ensure the umbilical cord isn’t damaged or spoiled during transit. If the umbilical becomes wet, unfortunately it will be unusable until it has fully dried again.

I recommend using a bubble/padded envelope or parcel box (to keep the umbilical cord from breaking while it’s being posted), and posting using a class of your choice (I do recommend with all precious inclusions that you send them signed for/tracked).

The bag/sample pot you use to send your umbilical cord inside must fit inside a large letter, (if it does not fit inside a large letter envelope/parcel, upon sending your finished item back to you, I will place your umbilical cord inside a small sealable bag inside your parcel next to your finished piece and dispose of your original packaging).

Please note, you are responsible for paying the correct postage fee to send the inclusion to myself. Please check weight and size limits to ensure the correct stamp is being used.

If you are choosing to send the whole cord, please use a tracked and signed for postage method.

Please ensure you make a note of your full name and order number and place this inside the envelope too (not inside the bag with the cord in). This helps me identify your umbilical cord when it arrives.

If you’d like me to notify you when your child’s umbilical cord arrives, please let me know by leaving a contact number inside the envelope. All unused umbilical cord is sent back with your finished piece.

  • Fur

The recommended amount of fur to send can be seen in the photo above.

I can, and have, worked with smaller amounts of fur. Such as 3-4 strands. You are welcome to send a smaller amount of fur if you don’t feel comfortable sending the amount of fur you have, or if you don’t have a lot of fur to begin with. I will always send back all unused fur with your finished piece.

Please ensure the fur is dry, and free from knots/debris.

I recommend placing your furry friends tuft of fur inside a small sealable bag, and placing this inside another sealable bag to prevent it from being damaged of spoilt during transit.

The size of bag/sample post must be able to fit inside a large letter parcel box (if it does not fit inside a large letter envelope, upon sending your finished item back to you, I will place your fur inside a small sealable bag inside your parcel next to your finished piece and dispose of your original packaging).

Please ensure you make a note of your full name and order number and place this inside the envelope too (not inside the bag with fur). This helps me identify your pets fur when it arrives.

If you’d like me to notify you when your pets fur arrives, please let me know by leaving a contact number inside the envelope.

All unused fur is always sent back with your finished piece.

All fur, as with all inclusions, is treated with the most respect and care while handling and creating your piece of jewellery. If you’d like, you can write some information about your furry friend in the notes section when you place your order, some customers find that this helps and gives a little bit of comfort to know that when I make the jewellery, I know more about your beloved pet. (There is no obligation to do this, I will always treat every animals fur in the same way)

  • Flower Petals

2-3 petals of each flower should be placed in a single layer in between two pieces of tissue, and then sandwiched between two pieces of paper/card. Your flower petals don’t need to be dried, they can be fresh, as I will dry them when they arrive. Please choose the petals with the less damage, as the damage will be enhanced by the drying process.

If you have multiple flowers you’d like to use, please send in 2-3 petals from each flower.

I recommend using a board-backed envelope/please do not bend envelope, as these provide some stability to your flower petals, and posting using a class of your choice (I do recommend with all precious inclusions that you send them signed for/tracked).

Please note, you are responsible for paying the correct postage fee to send the inclusion to myself. Please check weight and size limits to ensure the correct stamp is being used.

Please ensure you make a note of your full name and order number and place this inside the envelope too. This helps me identify your flower petals when they arrive.

If you’d like me to notify you when your petals arrive, please let me know by leaving a contact number inside the envelope.

I will send any unused flower petals back inside a small paper bag, next to your finished piece. Please handle these with care, as they will be very fragile.

Your flower petals can darken during the drying process. For example, red may turn a dark burgundy colour. White may turn into a cream/ivory colour. Pink flowers can turn a few shades darker. Each flower varies, and they may or may not change colour/shade. There is no way of knowing if they will, due to the natural process of the flowers being dried.

  • Sand

1 teaspoon of sand should be placed inside a sealable bag or a sample pot like the photo above. I recommend then placing this inside another sealable bag incase some of the sand comes loose while in transit. The size of bag/sample post must be able to fit inside a large letter parcel box (if it does not fit inside a large letter envelope, upon sending your finished item back to you, I will place your sand inside a small sealable bag inside your parcel next to your finished piece and dispose of your original packaging).

This helps me identify your sand when it arrives.

If you’d like me to notify you when your sand arrives, please let me know by leaving a contact number inside the envelope.

Please note, although asking for 1 teaspoon of sand, I don't use this much and all unused sand will be sent back with your finished piece of jewellery, inside the same bags you posted them in providing they fit inside a large letter postal box. You can send a smaller amount of sand if you wish. Having more than I need helps to have the right 'kind' of sand that is used for sand keepsake pieces.

  • Grave Soil

Some people choose to use grave soil inside memorial jewellery, as not everyone chooses to be cremated, or have any of their loved one’s hair, or funeral flowers to use. Grave soil is a lovely way to keep your loved one’s final resting place close to heart.

1 teaspoon of soil should be placed inside a sealable bag or a sample pot like the photo above. I recommend then placing this inside another sealable bag incase some of the soil comes loose while in transit. The size of bag/sample post must be able to fit inside a large letter parcel box (if it does not fit inside a large letter envelope, upon sending your finished item back to you, I will place your soil inside a small sealable bag inside your parcel next to your finished piece and dispose of your original packaging).

This helps me identify your soil when it arrives.

If you’d like me to notify you when your soil arrives, please let me know by leaving a contact number inside the envelope.

Please note, although asking for 1 teaspoon of soil, I don't use this much and all unused soil will be sent back with your finished piece of jewellery, inside the same bags you posted them in providing they fit inside a large letter postal box. You can send a smaller amount of soil if you wish. Having more than I need helps to have the right 'kind' of soil that is used for keepsake pieces.

Your loved one’s final resting place soil, as with all inclusions, are treated with the most respect and care while handling and creating your piece of jewellery. If you’d like, you can write some information about your loved one in the notes section when you place your order, some customers find that this helps and gives a little bit of comfort to know that when I make the jewellery, I know more about your special loved one. (There is no obligation to do this, I will always treat everyone’s inclusions in the same way)

Have something else in mind?

Do you have something precious you’d like to encapsulate that isn’t on the list above? Please contact me where we can discuss your ideas.

Placenta, pregnancy tests, fabric swatches and threads, blood, teeth (human or pet), whiskers/feathers and other animal ‘fur’ such as quills, horse hair/mane fur are some other inclusions you may have and want to use to create that special piece. These are all ‘non typical’ DNA inclusions, and require questions, ideas and discussions before creating them.
